• Description:

  Genuine Ford engine cooling fan blade, cataloged by Ford as Fan Blade, for 1997 through 2004 Ford trucks with the 7.3L Power Stroke turbo diesel, including F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty, the Excursion and E-Series applications. This is the large multi-blade mechanical fan that bolts to the thermal fan clutch on the front of the engine and pulls air through the radiator, intercooler and air-conditioning condenser to keep coolant and charge-air temperatures in check during towing, idling and low-speed work. The molded blade is balanced at the factory and matched to the 7.3L fan shroud and clutch so it moves the correct volume of air without vibration. A cracked, chipped or warped fan blade causes engine overheating at idle or under load, a persistent roaring or vibration from the front of the engine, and can throw off fan balance enough to damage the water pump bearing and clutch. Impact from a failed fan clutch or debris commonly cracks a blade at the hub. Installing a new original-equipment blade restores full airflow and smooth, balanced operation. Always inspect the fan clutch and water pump when the blade is off, since a seized or sloppy clutch is a frequent root cause of blade and shroud contact, and replace any bent blade rather than attempting to straighten it because a fan out of balance at engine speed is a safety hazard. Torque the fan-to-clutch fasteners to the Ford specification and confirm shroud clearance before returning the truck to service.
