  This is the genuine Ford heating and air conditioning vacuum reservoir a sealed tank that stores engine manifold vacuum so the climate control system can operate its mode and blend doors even when engine vacuum drops. Under hard acceleration or heavy load manifold vacuum falls and without a reservoir the dash airflow defaults to defrost. This tank holds a reserve so the panel floor and vent settings stay where the driver selected them.
