- Description:
This Motorcraft accessory drive belt idler pulley is a genuine Ford part that keeps the serpentine belt correctly routed and guided across the engine accessory drive, maintaining proper belt wrap over the alternator, air conditioning compressor and power steering pump. It spins on a sealed ball bearing in the upper idler position, superseding earlier Ford idler pulleys under part number 1L2Z-8678-AD. It fits 1997-2008 Ford F-150 (including 2004 Heritage and later New Style bodies), 1999-2007 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty, and Lincoln Mark LT with the 4.6L and 5.4L Triton V8. Symptoms of a failing idler include a squeal, chirp, grinding or rattling noise from the front of the engine, belt wobble or slippage, and a pulley that turns roughly or wobbles by hand. A seized idler can shred the belt and disable belt-driven accessories. Replace this idler with the accessory belt and confirm smooth, quiet rotation on installation.
