• Description:

  This genuine Ford engine flexplate, or drive plate, is the automatic-transmission drive plate that bolts to the crankshaft and connects the engine to the torque converter. Applications span a broad range from approximately 1997 to 2008, including the 1999 to 2007 Super Duty, the F-150 from 1997 to 2008 including the Heritage, and the Lincoln Mark LT. The flexplate also carries the starter ring gear, so a flexplate with cracks or damaged ring-gear teeth can cause starter engagement noise, a no-crank condition, or vibration. Replacing a damaged flexplate with the correct original equipment part restores a proper connection and quiet starting. As original equipment it matches the factory bolt pattern, balance, and ring-gear specification, so it installs without modification. When installing, look for the factory alignment marks between the flexplate and crankshaft, or make your own before removal, inspect the crankshaft rear seal and replace it if it is leaking, use the correct flexplate bolts with the specified thread treatment, and torque them to specification in the proper sequence.
