Genuine Ford tailgate lock actuator motor F75Z-9943170-AA for 1997-2014 Ford F-150, 1997-1999 F-250, 1999-2016 F-250 through F-550 Super Duty, 2001-2010 Explorer Sport Trac, and 2006-2014 Lincoln Mark LT, replacing the earlier F65Z-9943170-AL. This electric actuator drives the tailgate locking mechanism as part of the power door-lock and remote keyless entry circuit, extending and retracting the latch link so the tailgate locks and unlocks along with the doors. When the actuator motor fails or its gears strip, the tailgate will not lock or unlock from the key fob or lock switch, may buzz or click without moving, or leaves the tailgate openable while the truck is locked, a common security and convenience complaint on these trucks. Confirm the lock rod moves freely and the wiring connector is not corroded before condemning the actuator, since a bound linkage can overload an otherwise good motor. Installation is a direct fit into the original mounting location using the factory connector, so no cutting or splicing is required.
