The Motorcraft YF-37399 A/C accumulator is the genuine Ford drier and refrigerant reservoir mounted on the low (suction) side of the air conditioning circuit on 1999 through 2007 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and Excursion, including 7.3L and 6.0L Power Stroke diesel applications. It stores excess liquid refrigerant, prevents slugging of liquid back to the compressor, and houses desiccant that traps moisture along with a filter that captures debris circulating in the system. A saturated desiccant, internally rusted, or leaking accumulator produces weak cooling, moisture and acid contamination, a musty odor, compressor noise, or repeat compressor failure. Ford catalogs this component under base 19C836 and it supersedes the earlier 6C3Z-19C836-B service part. Replace the accumulator whenever the system has been open to atmosphere for an extended period or after a compressor failure, renew the connection seals, then evacuate and recharge to the Ford refrigerant and oil specification. Fitting the correct Motorcraft accumulator protects the new charge and the compressor and restores reliable cooling. This is the Ford catalog accumulator assembly, an exact-fit replacement for the original unit.
