- Description:
This valve keeper, or collet, locks the valve spring retainer to the valve stem to hold the spring in place. It fits a broad range of Ford V6 and V8 engines including the 4.6, 5.4, and 6.8 liter Super Duty engines from 1999 through 2007. A worn or missing keeper can release the valve spring, dropping the valve and causing severe internal engine damage. It carries Ford base number 6518 as a half keeper, and is cataloged by Ford as the valve spring retainer key.
