This is the genuine Motorcraft mass air flow (MAF) sensor, part number AFLS-131, used on 1999-2007 Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks, the 2004-2008 new-body F-150, and the Lincoln Mark LT with the 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L modular gas engines. The hot-film sensing element mounts in the air cleaner outlet and measures the mass of intake air entering the engine, reporting it to the powertrain control module so the PCM can calculate the correct fuel delivery and spark timing across load and temperature. A contaminated, drifting or failed MAF sensor is what a buyer is chasing when the truck throws P0101, P0102 or P0103 codes, idles rough, surges or stalls, hesitates on acceleration, loses power, or trips the check engine light with poor fuel economy. Because the element is exposed to unfiltered blow-by and oil vapor over time, cleaning often only helps briefly and a genuine Motorcraft replacement restores accurate airflow readings and factory driveability. This is the OEM sensor calibrated by Ford for these applications, so it plugs into the original harness connector and seats in the factory housing without adapters. Confirm engine and housing style before ordering, as later trucks use a different sensor calibration.
