  This is the genuine Ford engine coolant pipe O-ring seal used on 4.6 liter modular V8 applications including Continental, Mark VIII, Mustang, Contour and Marauder built from roughly 1991 to 2004. The O-ring seals a coolant pipe or crossover connection in the cooling system, fitting into the joint where the pipe meets its mating bore and squeezing to form a leak-tight seal that keeps coolant contained. A hardened, cracked or flattened O-ring at this joint is a common source of a coolant leak that can be hard to spot until it shows up as low coolant, residue at the pipe connection or overheating. Replacing the seal restores a clean, leak-free coolant joint.
