This rear main crankshaft seal seals the back of the crankshaft against the engine block to keep oil from leaking out. It fits Ford F-150 models from 1997 through 2008, the 2004 Heritage body, Mark LT, and Super Duty trucks from 1999 through 2007 with 4.6, 5.4, 5.8, and 6.8 liter engines. A hardened rear main seal leaks oil at the rear of the engine, leaving drips near the transmission bellhousing and lowering oil level. It carries Ford base number 6701, replaces F3AZ-6701-B, and is cataloged by Ford as the engine crankshaft rear seal.
