• Description:

  This is a genuine Motorcraft coil on plug ignition coil that mounts directly atop each spark plug on Ford 3-valve modular engines, converting battery voltage into the high-voltage spark that fires the cylinder. It serves the 4.6L, 5.4L, and 6.8L 3V Triton engine family used across a wide range of Ford light trucks and SUVs, including the 1999 to 2007 Super Duty, the 2004 to 2008 F-150 New Style, Expedition, Navigator, and Lincoln Mark LT. One coil sits over each cylinder, so a single failing unit affects only its own plug. Drivers who need this part are usually experiencing a rough idle, a persistent misfire, hesitation under acceleration, a flashing or steady check engine light with a cylinder misfire code, reduced fuel economy, or a hard start. Heat cycling and age eventually break down the internal windings and the insulating boot, causing spark breakdown that mimics a fouled plug. Because these engines run one coil per cylinder, replacing a suspect unit restores full spark energy to that cylinder and smooths engine operation.
