  This is a genuine Ford companion flange, also called the rear axle pinion yoke or drive flange, the machined component that bolts to the rear driveshaft and transmits torque into the differential pinion of the Ford 8.8-inch rear axle. It carries the pinion nut and seals against the pinion oil seal, so its runout and sealing surface are critical to smooth driveline operation. This flange serves Ford's widely used 8.8-inch axle and fits a broad group of rear-wheel-drive platforms from roughly 1989 through 2008, including F-150 and F-150 Heritage pickups, Expedition, Mustang, and Lincoln Navigator and Mark VII, wherever the 8.8 ring-and-pinion is used. A worn or damaged companion flange typically announces itself with a driveline vibration or clunk, a pinion seal leak weeping gear oil at the nose of the differential, or scoring where the seal lip rides. Because the pinion nut sets crush-sleeve preload, torque the pinion nut carefully to specification and use a new pinion seal whenever the flange is disturbed. Verify your axle is the 8.8-inch unit and match the bolt pattern and seal diameter to your original for correct fitment before installing.
