• Description:

  This is the front-port air conditioning service valve cap used across a very broad span of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles from the late 1990s through current production, including Bronco, Bronco Sport, C-Max, Contour, Crown Victoria, the E-Series van lineup, E-Transit, and Lincoln and Mercury siblings sharing the same R-134a or R-1234yf service port hardware. The threaded plastic cap screws down over the Schrader-style valve core on the high or low side service port, sealing out dirt and moisture and providing a secondary barrier against refrigerant seepage past the internal valve core. Technicians and DIY owners replace this cap when it has cracked, lost its rubber seal, gone missing after a prior air conditioning service, or when the port has been leaking a faint trace of refrigerant that a technician traces back to a worn or absent cap rather than the valve core itself. Because this is a front-port cap and a separate rear or suction-port cap uses a different color-coded design, confirm which port on your air conditioning system needs the cap before ordering, since front and rear caps are not interchangeable despite looking similar. Whenever a service port has been opened to the atmosphere or shows any sign of refrigerant loss, Ford recommends treating the valve core beneath the cap as a single-use item and replacing it during the same service, since a worn core is a common source of slow refrigerant leaks that a new cap alone will not fix.
