• Description:

  This Motorcraft engine coolant temperature switch, also cataloged as a temperature sender, threads into the engine coolant passage and varies its electrical output with coolant temperature to drive the instrument-panel temperature gauge, giving the driver an accurate readout of engine operating heat. This single-terminal sender serves a broad range of 1975 through 1997 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury cars and trucks as a genuine Ford OEM component and carries the Ford engineering identification F1SZ-10884-A. When the sender degrades, the dash temperature gauge may read inaccurately, sit at cold and never move, peg to hot regardless of actual temperature, or fluctuate erratically, which can mask a real overheating condition or trigger unnecessary concern. Replacing the sender restores a trustworthy gauge reading so the driver can monitor engine temperature and catch cooling-system problems early. The threaded body seals directly into the coolant passage, so install it against a clean port with the correct sealant per Ford guidance and tighten carefully to avoid damaging the fitting or creating a coolant leak. Confirm the gauge tracks warm-up after installation.
