This genuine Ford transmission mount is the engine support insulator that cradles the rear of the automatic transmission and isolates its weight and vibration from the crossmember on rear wheel drive Ford F-150 pickups and related Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models. Ford catalog name Engine Support Insulator or Transmission Mount, it uses a bonded rubber and steel construction to carry the driveline load while damping engine and gearbox vibration and controlling powertrain movement under acceleration, braking, and load. Owners replace this mount when the rubber is cracked, collapsed, separated from the metal, or oil soaked, which commonly produces a clunk or bang when shifting into gear or on throttle changes, driveline vibration at idle, and excessive engine or transmission movement. Because the driveline rocks on a failed mount, a worn unit can also stress the exhaust, driveshaft, and adjacent mounts, so replacing it restores proper alignment and a smooth quiet driveline.
