• Description:

  This is a genuine Motorcraft air charge temperature sensor, also called an intake air temperature (IAT) sensor, not an oxygen sensor despite its DY-series Motorcraft number. It measures the temperature of the air entering the engine and reports it to the powertrain control module, which uses air density derived from that reading to calculate the correct fuel delivery and to adjust spark timing for the incoming charge. Accurate intake-air temperature data lets the module fuel precisely across cold starts, hot restarts, and wide ambient swings. It is a cross-platform application covering roughly 2014 through 2023, including F-150 and Escape among other Ford lines, and the Motorcraft catalog name is Air Charge Temperature Sensor.
