  This is the genuine Ford low-note horn, a single-note horn tuned to the lower pitch of the two-horn arrangement and mounted on the left side, supplied with its bracket. It was used across a broad range of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles from the 1990s and 2000s. In a dual-horn system the low-note horn pairs with the high-note horn to create the full, harmonized warning tone, so when the low-note unit fails the horn sounds thin or higher-pitched than normal. The horn generates sound electrically when its circuit is energized, and typical failures include internal corrosion, an open or burned winding, or contact wear that leaves it silent or buzzing. Replacing the horn restores the deep, full tone and correct volume. The included bracket allows mounting in the factory location. For a sound repair, verify that the horn circuit, relay, fuse and ground are good before replacing the horn, secure the bracket so it cannot rattle or contact the body, and make sure the electrical connector is fully seated. If the matching high-note horn is also weak, servicing both keeps the tone balanced.
