This genuine Motorcraft direct ignition coil, part DG-508, is a coil-on-plug unit that transforms battery voltage into the high-voltage spark that fires the spark plug, delivering the ignition energy each cylinder needs for reliable combustion. It is one of Ford's most widely used coils, serving 4.6L, 5.4L, and 6.8L Triton modular V8 and V10 engines across a very broad 1997-2019 service span, including F-150 and Super Duty trucks, Expedition, E-Series vans, Mustang, Crown Victoria, and many other Ford and Lincoln applications. One coil sits atop each spark plug. As a coil ages or its windings break down, symptoms include a cylinder misfire, rough idle, hesitation or stumble under acceleration, reduced fuel economy, a flashing or steady check-engine light with misfire codes, and hard starting. Replacing a failed coil with the Motorcraft unit restores a strong, correctly timed spark and smooth running. It plugs directly onto the plug and connector without modification, and applying dielectric grease to the boot is recommended. This is the correct Motorcraft coil for these Triton-powered Ford and Lincoln vehicles.
