• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford engine oil filter, the Motorcraft FL-500S spin-on filter used across a wide range of Ford and Lincoln vehicles including the Mustang, F-150, Explorer, Edge, Expedition, Flex, Fusion, Taurus and Transit, as well as Lincoln MKS, MKT, MKX and MKZ, spanning roughly 2007 through 2023 on 3.5L, 3.7L and 5.0L engines. The filter traps metal particles, carbon and sludge from the circulating engine oil, protecting the bearings, the timing drive, and on turbocharged applications the turbocharger, from abrasive contamination. It incorporates an anti-drain-back valve that keeps oil in the filter at shutdown for faster oil pressure on restart, and a bypass valve that maintains flow if the media becomes restricted. Drivers replace this filter at every scheduled oil change; a neglected or off-brand filter can cause low oil pressure, ticking lifters, a lit oil warning lamp, or accelerated engine wear. This OEM unit matches the factory thread, gasket and internal valve calibration for correct fit and flow. Pre-fill and lubricate the gasket before threading it on, and tighten by hand to specification.
