• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford starter motor relay, the fender-mounted starter solenoid that switches heavy battery current to the starter motor when the ignition key energizes its small control terminal. It is the classic Ford under-hood relay used across a very broad range of Ford cars, trucks, and vans from roughly 1984 through 2001, mounted on the inner fender and wired between the battery, the starter, and the ignition circuit. When this relay fails, the engine will not crank on a good battery, you hear a single loud click or rapid chattering when turning the key, or the starter engages intermittently as the internal contacts burn and pit. It is a frequent no-crank culprit because the copper contact disc and posts erode with each start. As the OEM part it carries the correct terminal layout, coil rating, and mounting footprint so it bolts to the factory bracket and accepts the original cables without rewiring. Ensure the battery and cable connections are clean and the mounting surface provides a solid ground before condemning a starter, since a corroded relay can mimic a bad starter.
