This genuine Ford steering wheel control switch is the multifunction button pack mounted in the steering wheel spoke that operates cruise control, audio volume and track, phone and voice commands, and the instrument cluster menu. It is a service switch that fits a range of current Ford models sharing this switch design, including 2020 through 2024 Explorer, 2020 through 2022 Escape, 2021 through 2025 Bronco Sport, and 2022 through 2025 Maverick. The switch sends button inputs across the vehicle network so the driver can manage speed control and infotainment without taking hands off the wheel. Typical failure symptoms include individual buttons that no longer respond or stick, cruise control that will not set or resume, volume or track controls that stop working, erratic menu scrolling, or a rubber pad that has worn through. Because moisture intrusion, wear, and broken internal contacts are common causes, replacing the switch restores full wheel-mounted control. This assembly supersedes the earlier LB5Z-9C888-B and LB5Z-9C888-G versions and the SW-8579 service number. It is often supplied with the steering wheel from the factory but is available separately as this service part.
