This Genuine Ford Motorcraft accessory drive belt idler pulley, part number YS-249, guides and maintains tension on the serpentine belt as it routes around the engine accessories, riding on a sealed internal bearing that lets the smooth pulley face spin freely. It is used across several rear-wheel-drive Ford and Lincoln V8 applications including the Ford Mustang and the Panther-platform Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car equipped with 4.6L, 5.4L, and 5.8L engines. As the internal bearing wears, owners often hear a bearing growl, chirp, or grinding from the front of the engine, notice belt roughness or wobble, or find the belt tracking unevenly across the pulleys.
